IronKids by Tanita™ V2.7.0 ReadMe

Installation

Before installing IronKids by Tanita you should quit all other programs and disable any virus protection. You must have administrator level access to install this program.

When you are ready, double click on the "Setup" (or "Setup.exe") file to begin installation. If you are installing the program for the first time it may take several minutes. One or more software components from Microsoft may be installed before the "IronKids by Tanita Setup Wizard" window is displayed. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen and please be patient.

Using The Program

To run the program double click on the "IronKids by Tanita" icon located on your desktop. You can also select "IronKids by Tanita" from the "Tanita" folder located under "Programs" in the "Start" menu.

ANT™ Device Installation

Tanita scales and other products that use ANT wireless communication require a USB ANT Stick™ adapter. The drivers you need are included in the program installation, so don't plug your ANT stick into your computer until the software has been installed.

With a properly installed POS printer the software can now be configured to print out the measurement results when a new measurement is saved. Printer is set up in the "Receipt Printer" tab of the Options window. To enable, select the printer under "Auto Print New Measurements" in the "File" menu.
  • Fix problem communicating with the latest version of Garmin Express.

  • Add the ability to check for a newer version of the program. If a newer version is found the user has the option of downloading the installer. The program will check for a new version each time it is run or when "Check For Updates" is selected from the "Help" menu.
  • Add the ability to resume the measurement and obtain body composition results when using an ANT equipped scale if the scale's LED turns red due to the user not making good contact with the scale. The user must establish contact with the foot pads (and handles in the case of the BC-1500) within 30 seconds of the completion of the weight measurement in order to receive body composition information.
  • Fix an error that caused the age sent to the scale to be off by one year when a measurement was taken on the user's birthday.
  • Fix an error in profile printing that caused it to print in landscape mode instead of portrait mode if the previous printout was an analysis or a graph.

  • Add school year features. A new school year can be started by selecting "Start New School Year..." from the "File" menu. This will increment the grade for each active user that has not reached "Graduated". It will also change the start of the school year to the current date. The school year start date is used for the change in weight and body fat that is displayed with each measurement. It is also used for a new optional time span for the small graphs shown in the Measurement view. You can also change the school year start date by selecting "School Year..." from the "Edit" menu.
  • Keep track of the last time the height was entered for a user and prompt if it is time for it to be updated. In the "Edit" menu "Check Student Height" can be set to "Every Time", "Every Six Months" or "Never". If it is not set to "Never", the operator will be prompted to enter the height either every time before a measurement is taken or if it has been more than six months since the height was last checked.
  • Add the ability to change the scale serial number by selecting "Scale..." from the "Edit" menu.
  • Add definitions of the fields to bottom of Measurement printout.
  • Add support for making everything on the screen larger or smaller by adjusting the Windows DPI setting.
  • Add ability to hide BMI by un-checking "Show BMI" in the "Edit" menu.
  • Print out the values indicated by the colored bars in the Analysis and Graphs.
  • Make the goal lines thicker in the Analysis and Graphs shown in the Measurement view and printout so they are easier to see.
  • Set, display and print the user's height in inches only instead of feet and inches.
  • Fix a problem with the way some weight measurements were displayed when rounding in pounds.
  • Fix problems installing and running on 64-bit Windows systems.
  • Print the change in weight in the correct units instead of always printing it in kilograms.
